Technical Requirements
Database Server
- Processor: dual-core processor recommended
- Networking: 1 Network card with configured support for TCP/IP protocol
- Hard Disk: Recommended 10,000 or 15,000 RPM 146GB HDDs or bigger; HDD size depends on size of database and software installed
- Memory: 1GB minimum, 2GB+ recommended
- Virtualization: optional, supported
- Windows Server 2003 or 2008
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008
- Microsoft .NET 3.5 required for TariffShark Database Installer (can be run on just about any PC)
Application Server
- Processor: dual-core processor recommended
- Networking: 1 Network card with configured support for TCP/IP protocol
- Hard Disk: 3GB free disk space
- Memory: 512MB minimum, 1GB recommended
- Windows Server 2003 or 2008
- IIS 6.0 or 7.0
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
- Access to a pre-configured SMTP server
NOTE: TariffShark Database and Application server can be run on the same physical or virtual machine.
Client Machines
- Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit versions)
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
- Microsoft Office 2007 (SP2 or later) or 2010
- Office Interop libraries must be installed - Software that is capable of reading PDF files (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader or Foxit Reader, for example)
Notes
Hammerhead Versus Prior Releases
- The technical requirements outlined above are for TariffShark Hammerhead (Release 4.0 and later). Prior releases (1) DO support Office 2003, (2) do NOT support Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7.0, and (3) do NOT support SQL Server 2008.
- If running a pre-Hammerhead release and running Microsoft Office 2003, Interop libraries must be installed. More information is available here.
Can we run the database and application servers on one machine?
- Absolutely. We have combined the database and application server roles into a single machine for much of our QA testing and it runs fine.
